Electric String Trimmers

i would rather use the replacement plastic blades or a plastic attatchment of some kind instead of the string. the string is really a headache to wind, but mine is an electric string trimmer and the weed thrasher plastic blades say they are for "gas trimmer only"
would it hurt my electric trimmer to put them on it?
